The World Committee for Lifelong Learning (WCLLL) was founded in 2005 by a team of education-sector professionals. A French association working to develop an ecosystem to promote learning in all its forms, the WCLLL is active in all segments of society: cultural, civil, academic, non-profit, economic and institutional.
The FEDE and the WCLLL have been partners since 2013 and are working together to improve vocational training and access to lifelong learning (LLL) for all. The WCLLL has been organising world forums on learning-related topics since 2008. The 2010 Forum, for example, was entitled ‘What happens to the learner in the planet village?’, and the 2017 Forum focused on the topic ‘Reaching the Sustainable Development Goals via Lifelong Learning’.
The most recent Forum took place in July 2021 at the Maison des Associations Internationales in Brussels and was entitled ‘Towards Sustainable Personal and Professional Fulfilment in the New Global Context’.
During this event, the FEDE’s Chairwoman was invited to speak on a panel of experts as a representative of education and training institutions. Her speech aimed to suggest to the Forum participants some topics for discussion during the eight workshops (Education of Tomorrow; The EU and LLL; Refugees and LLL; Economic Sector Change; Equality between Women and Men: Where are We?; Towards a Learning Society; Soft Skills: A Miracle Solution?; and Promotion of Health) and to provide insight into the Forum’s overarching theme.
The proceedings of the 6th Forum of the WCLLL were published in October 2022.
