The FEDE attending the EPALE conference

On 26 April 2018 the European Commission’s EPALE (Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe) held its seventh thematic conference on the theme ‘Action culturelle: quelles démarches pédagogiques pour l'éducation des adultes?’ [Cultural action: different pedagogical approaches to adult education]. Held in Paris, the event brought together various European educational and cultural actors, resulting in a highly productive exchange of ideas. The FEDE was an active participant at the event, which was also attended by representatives of the Erasmus programme, UNESCO, Transplanisphère, the Ligue de l’enseignement Nord-Pas-de-Calais [Nord-Pas-de-Calais Teaching League] and members of civil society. Jean-Michel Delaplagne, former General Secretary of the FEDE, has recently published a book entitled ETG : un rêve inachevé [Evian TG: an Unfinished Dream]. The book, which includes a preface by Jean-Michel Aulas, chairman of Olympique Lyonnais, talks football in a highly thoughtful way, taking into account the financial, managerial and social challenges clubs face. Farhang Gassemi: defending education and citizenship

Farhang Gassemi is a member of the FEDE Committee and is also president of the Federation’s Human Rights Commission. He also heads a private higher education group (Cogefi) and somehow find the time to write books as well. We meet him below. Can you tell us how your career started? In the 1980s I wrote a PhD thesis in political science at Panthéon-Assas University and at the same time studied for a degree in management at Paris Dauphine University. Designed and created by four students from Ludus Académie, the game, which is at the same time fun and serious, has attracted the attention of the FEDE – and in the best possible way: the Federation awarded it its 2017 human rights prize. Vincenzo Susca: a FEDE-affiliated international researcher

Vincenzo Susca earned his PhD in sociology. A former lecturer at the University of Milan, he is currently MacLuhan Fellow at the University of Toronto, lecturer in sociology at Paul-Valéry University in Montpellier and a researcher affiliated with the CEAQ research centre at the Sorbonne in Paris.
