The FEDE attending the EPALE conference

On 26 April 2018 the European Commission’s EPALE (Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe) held its seventh thematic conference on the theme ‘Action culturelle: quelles démarches pédagogiques pour l'éducation des adultes?’ [Cultural action: different pedagogical approaches to adult education]. Held in Paris, the event brought together various European educational and cultural actors, resulting in a highly productive exchange of ideas. The FEDE was an active participant at the event, which was also attended by representatives of the Erasmus programme, UNESCO, Transplanisphère, the Ligue de l’enseignement Nord-Pas-de-Calais [Nord-Pas-de-Calais Teaching League] and members of civil society. Jean-Michel Delaplagne, former General Secretary of the FEDE, has recently published a book entitled ETG : un rêve inachevé [Evian TG: an Unfinished Dream]. The book, which includes a preface by Jean-Michel Aulas, chairman of Olympique Lyonnais, talks football in a highly thoughtful way, taking into account the financial, managerial and social challenges clubs face. The aim is clear: to show the similarities between the management of a football club and the management of a large company. Vincenzo Susca: a FEDE-affiliated international researcher

Vincenzo Susca earned his PhD in sociology. A former lecturer at the University of Milan, he is currently MacLuhan Fellow at the University of Toronto, lecturer in sociology at Paul-Valéry University in Montpellier and a researcher affiliated with the CEAQ research centre at the Sorbonne in Paris. The FNIH recognises FEDE degrees

Claude Vivier Le Got, Chairwoman of the FEDE and Lahcen Zelmat, Chairman of the FNIH, signed a cooperation agreement in Marrakesh to certify acknowledgement by the FNIH (National Federation of the Hospitality Industry) in Morocco of the following FEDE degrees: Foundation Degree in Tourism and Hospitality; European Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism and Hospitality; European Bachelor’s Degree in Spa Business Management; European Master’s Degree in Tourism Management and Strategies. Through this agreement, the FNIH recognises the relevance and quality of FEDE programmes in terms of acquiring professional skills based on the needs of the hospitality and tourism sector, a particularly thriving sector in Morocco (2nd leading sector for job creation and contribution to the GDP). The three developments concerning the Council of Europe’s work on education provision for refugees

In November, the Council of Europe has worked strongly on education provision for refugees. The Lisbon Recognition Convention Committee adopted a Recommendation on Recognition of Qualifications held by Refugees, Displaced Persons and Persons in a Refugee-like Situation, established in conjunction with UNESCO. The document is available in English, French, Russian and Spanish, through  https://www.coe.int/fr/web/education/-/new-recommendation-on-recognition-of-qualifications-held-by-refugees  The presentation video of the European Qualifications Passport for Refugees (EQPR) has been launched: https://www.coe.int/fr/web/education/-/launch-of-docentary-on-the-project-european-qualifications-passport-for-refugees- The Council of Europe launched a Toolkit designed to assist organisations that provide language support for refugees, and especially the volunteers working for them. The FEDE in Marrakesh (Morocco)

Received by the French Institute of Marrakesh (Maison Denise Masson), Claude Vivier Le Got (Chairwoman), Olivier Perotto (Deputy Director) and a delegation from FEDE Morocco (François Guyomar and Nisrine Zdak) were in Marrakesh for the launch of the annual cycle of regional seminars in Morocco. This first seminar was designed as a working day dedicated to FEDE pedagogical innovations and developments. It also served as an occasion to further strengthen ties between the FEDE teams and member schools of the Federation based in Marrakesh and Ouarzazate. “It is my desire that these regional seminars serve as a time for discussions, sharing experiences and presenting the successes of FEDE schools all over the Moroccan territory,” explained Claude Vivier Le Got when introducing the seminar.
