ENSEMBLE SAINT-JOSEPH LA SALLE
FRANCE | LORIENT
OVERVIEW OF THE INSTITUTION
Saint Joseph-La Salle Lorient is part of the La Salle network – the world’s first educational network, founded at the end of the 17th-century. It consists of 1500 institutions in 79 countries, with a total of 1.3 million students.
Located in Lorient, Saint Joseph-La Salle is a private Catholic higher educational campus under contract with the French government. It was founded in 1849 by the Frères des Ecoles Chrétiennes, under the patronage of its founder, Jean-Baptiste de La Salle. The 10-hectare site houses a secondary school, a general and technical college, a higher educational department and a continuing education centre, representing, in total, nearly 2000 students.
Saint Joseph-La Salle offers a large range of educational programmes across 25 subject areas. With its strong international focus and cutting-edge teaching methods, ‘St Jo’, as it is known to locals, is a renowned actor in regional catholic education, known both for its dynamic approach and its excellent results in general, professional and technical education – particularly in science, technology, industry, and in energy-sector and security-related careers.
Saint Joseph-La Salle Lorient has also expanded its range of programmes and now offers school-level education and training for security-related careers and forensic science.
