Established in 1990, in its 27 years of existence, “Vasile Goldis” Western University of Arad has become a reference of Transylvanian and has quickly integrated into the European regional science and culture sectors.

Being part of the national system of higher education, the “Vasile Goldiş” Western University of Arad has become strongly integrated into the European Area of Research and Education and contains the majority of the elements of the internationalisation process, such as: mobility of academic staff and students, foreign language programmes, education of foreign students, participation in projects with European financing in partnership with other institutions.

“Vasile Goldis” Western University provides a wide range of educational offers to its students through its six faculties: 21 areas of bachelor degree with 41 bachelor programmes of studies, 17 areas of MBA and 24 master programmes, and an Institution for organising Doctoral Studies with two doctoral schools, Biology and Medicine.

The biomedical research is carried out within the Institute for Life Science, established in 2008 and accredited by the Academy of Medical Sciences. We are grateful to Prof. Dr. med. h. c. Stefan W. Hell, awarded with the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 2014, who has accepted to be the honorary president of the scientific council of the institute.
